 SSV is shipping a PC/104 boardset powered by an AMD 586 processor, that implements Ethernet and CAN fieldbus interfaces and comes with embedded Linux support. The two-board combo consists of a PC/104 carrier board plus SSV's tiny DIL/NetPC ADNP/1520 processor module.
The heart of the boardset is SSV's gumstick-sized (1.1 x 3.2 in.) ADNP/1520 processor module, which is based on a 133MHz AMD 586 processor along with 16MB of Flash and 64MB of SDRAM. The module also includes a 256 macrocell CPLD (complex programmable logic device), a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet controller, a parallel port, an IDE interface, and 16-bit ISA bus expansion. It implements a 128-pin QIL (quad in-line) pinout, and is compatible with other processor modules in SSV's DIL/NetPC family.
The processor module plugs directly into a PC/104 form-factor carrier board, as seen in the photo below. The carrier board provides standard PC/104 bus expansion headers, along with circuitry and connectors for two RS232 serial ports, one CAN fieldbus interface, a 10/100 Mbit Ethernet LAN, a parallel port, and either a CompactFlash card slot or a 2mm IDE connector for a 2.5-inch hard drive.

The carrier board is currently available in a €450 "starter kit." The kit includes the CPU module preinstalled with embedded Linux, a TCP/IP stack, web server, telnet, and ftp server. It also includes sample applications, including one that works with Lab View software from National Instruments to pass measured values from a CAN bus via Ethernet, SSV says.
