ARM9 SBC targets Linux device designs

Shenzhen, China-based Embest is shipping a small ARM9-based SBC (single-board computer) based on a Samsung S3C2410X processor clocked up to 266MHz. The SBC2410-II comes with Linux, and targets handheld devices, human-machine interfaces (HMIs), data distribution devices, and medical, security, and communication controllers.

The SBC2410-II measures 4.7 x 3.5 inches (120 x 90 mm). It has lots of standard I/O, including RS-232, USB host/device, an LCD controller, keypad interface, SD card slot, JTAG, and Ethernet. It also has three extra serial ports on pin headers, and a pair of bus interfaces for peripheral signal expansion.

- 1MB NOR flash; 64MB NAND flash

Software provided with the board, according to the company, includes:

Linux 2.6.18 kernel source
Windows CE BSP (board-support package)
Native and Windows (Cygwin) toolchains
Vivi bootloader source code
Root filesystems with and without qt (with USB and touch panel support)
Example code
Jflash, mkyaffs, sjf2410.exe flash programming tools
Dnw directory for USB/serial communication
2410mons.bin/2410mon directory (NOR flash control program, with source)
2410loader.bin (WinCE loader)
2410test.bin/2410test (for application testing)

Availability

The Embest SBC-2410-II is shipping now, priced at $300, direct, according to the company.

Embest also offers two slightly larger boards based on the S3C2410 -- the SBC-2410-I, and the SBC-2410-III, which supports a harddrive.
