Shanghai, China -- (press release excerpt) -- MobileSoft Technology (Nanjing) Co. Ltd. announced today at the 7th International IC Conference & Expo (Shanghai) that it has ported its mLinux embedded Linux operating system to Motorola's DragonBall Super VZ microprocessor.

mLinux is an embedded Linux platform that supports all major chipsets for mobile devices and Internet appliances, including the previous generation DragonBall EZ and VZ. mLinux is a complete software solution for smartphones, PDAs, and Internet appliances, and includes everything from the Linux operating system and Graphical User Interface (GUI) to hardware drivers, network protocols, development tools, APIs, and end-user applications.

MobileSoft's offerings for the DragonBall Super VZ include a complete Integrated Development Environment (IDE), an optimized Linux kernel, a small and efficient GUI (mGUI), and a full suite of applications. Some features of mLinux for the DragonBall Super VZ include:

Kernel version: mLinux-2.4.17
Kernel size: 800KB
Built-in networking (TCP/IP, Ethernet, dialup networking), and ROMFS, RAMFS and JFFS2 file system
Support for 16-bit true color 320*240 LCD, touch panel, keypad, serial port, and IRDA and USB devices
Boot time: less than 3 seconds
