Evalue Technology of Taiwan is shipping a low-profile SBC (single board computer) for fanless applications based on Linux. The Via Eden-based ECM-3612 measures 5.7 x 4 inches, and has soldered-down on-board CPU and memory. It targets industrial automation, POS, and transportation.

The ECM-3612 runs a 667 MHz Via Eden ESP6000 processor with 128 MB of SDRAM soldered on the board. Evalue says the processor consumes just seven watts. The graphics controller built into the Via TwisterT chipset shares up to 32 MB of system memory as a frame buffer, and can simultaneously drive a CRT monitor and dual 18-bit LVDS LCD panels.

Evalue lists the following key features and specifications for the ECM-3612 SBC:

Processor -- Via Eden ESP6000 at 667 MHz (other speeds available)
Chipset -- Via TwisterT VT8606/VT82C686B
Memory -- 128 MB SDRAM soldered on board (32, 64, and 256 MB available)
Display -- up to 1280x1024 at 32 bpp, 85 Hz

- CompactFlash socket

- Ethernet:
  - 10/100 Base-T
  - Realtek RTL8101L chipset
  - Optional built-in boot ROM in Flash BIOS

The ECM-3612 is available now, according to Evalue. Pricing was not disclosed.
