Geode SBC expands with PCI/104 and mini PCI

Aewin is shipping a 3.5-inch SBC (single-board computer) with both a PCI/104 connector and an on-board mini PCI slot. The EM-6331 is based on a low-power Geode processor and targets applications such as kiosks, gaming, POS, thin clients, automation, and digital signs, according to the company.

The EM-6331's Geode LX800 0.9W processor is clocked at 500 MHz, and supports one on-board 200-pin DDR SODIMM socket for up to 1 GB of RAM. The SODIMM socket is mounted on the back of the board along with a 50-pin CompactFlash socket.

Additional features listed by Aewin include:

Display interface:
- 2 to 254 MB video memory shared with system memory
- supports 18- or 24-bit TFT panels and analog VGA interfaces
- CRT resolution to 1920 x 1440, 32-bit color
- dual-mode resolution -- 1024 x 768, 16-bit color
Storage -- UltraATA-66 IDE, 44-pin IDE connector shared with CompactFlash slot
I/O ports:
- 2 x 10/100 Ethernet; Intel 82551ER or Realtek 8139CL
- 4 x USB 2.0
- 4 x serial -- 3 x RS232, 1 x RS232/422/485
- parallel port
- PS/2 keyboard and mouse
- IrDA
- AC97 audio; mic in, speaker out
Expansion:
- mini PCI slot
- PCI/104 connector
Power -- +5V @ 12W
Dimensions -- 5.7 x 4 inches (145 x 102 mm)

Drivers are available for both Linux and Windows XP/XPe, according to Aewin. Optional add-on functions include audio and LVDS modules.

The EM-6331 appears to be available now. Pricing was not disclosed.

Aewin also offers PC/104 and ETX SBCs based on the Geode LX800.
