MontaVista launches embedded Linux devcon
May 29, 2007

Embedded Linux OS and tools vendor MontaVista will host a three-day developer conference and partner expo in California this fall. Set for Oct. 8-10, in Santa Clara, MontaVista's "Vision 2007 Embedded Linux Developer's Conference" boasts sponsors that include Freescale, IBM, Intel, and Texas Instruments (TI).

The event kicks off with a "Bootcamp for Beginners" day aimed at orienting new embedded Linux developers. After that, multi-session tracks on key topics promise to impart the latest tips and techniques, MontaVista said.

Featured speakers and presenters include:
  • Andrew Morton, maintainer of the mm tree kernel patchset
  • Jim Ready, MontaVista founder and CTO
  • Jonathan Corbet, editor of LWN.net
  • Christopher Hallinan, author of Embedded Linux Primer
MontaVista expects hundreds of developers to attend, it said.

CEO Tom Kelly stated, "Vision 2007 attendees will meet some of the top minds in their field."

Registration details can be found here.

Another commercial Linux and RTOS vendor, LynuxWorks, has long held a similarly named invitation-only Vision Summit. And of course, MontaVista competitor Wind River holds a Worldwide User Conference each spring.
