French startup to sell, support embedded Linux from Sysgo, LynuxWorks

A brand new French software company has become a preferred solutions provider in Southern Europe for Sysgo's embedded Linux operating system and tools. AP Embedded Solutions S.A.S. (APES) will provide support, services, and training around Sysgo's ELinOS distribution, and will also sell and support a full range of LynuxWorks products.

APES was established in October by a group of senior engineers that say they have over 30 years of experience in embedded systems. It will focus on industries with complex software applications, it says, including those with certification demands, such as automotive, aerospace, and telecommunications.

The most recent version of ELinOS, v3.1, shipped earlier this month. It includes support for all common CPUs, Sysgo says, along with a graphical configuration tool for select target boards. ELinOS also includes an Eclipse-based IDE (integrated development environment). Sysgo, a German company, added an English-language version of ELinOS in April of 2001.

In addition to Sysgo products, APES will also distribute "the full range" of LynuxWorks products, it says, including LynxOS and BlueCat Embedded Linux.

APES's commercial director, Bruno Privat, said, "We're seeing a growing demand for services around [ELinOS]."

Sysgo's partner manager, Walter Grossgarten, said, "It's not just the product which counts, but the quality of the engineers. Given the background of the APES team, they are the ideal partner."
