 SSV has begun shipping a smaller model in its line of low-powered "all-in-one" panel PCs aimed at rugged computing and industrial applications. The TRM/416 measures 6.2 x 3.9 x 1.2 inches (158 x 100mm), and runs embedded Linux or DOS.

The TRM/416 appears to be SSV's smallest panel PC yet. It features a waterproof front panel, and is available without a case, for direct installation into machines. An IP54 and IP65 rated case is also available for the device.

Like SSV's earlier TRM/916 and TRM/816 models, the TRM/416 is based on the company's ADNP/1520 processor module (pictured at right, plugged into carrier module). The 1.1 x 3.2-inch module is powered by a 100MHz or 133MHz version of AMD's x86-compatible Geode 520 processor, and is designed to fit into a 128-pin QIL (quad in-line) integrated circuit socket.
The TRM/416 comes standard with 64MB of RAM and 16MB of flash, expandable via a CompactFlash socket. The display is an STN LCD with four 20-character lines and an LED backlight.
I/O includes balanced and unbalanced serial ports, 10/100 Ethernet, a USB 1.1 port (Linux only), 2-bit digital I/O, and a CAN (controller area network) fieldbus. Additional features include a watchdog timer, battery-backed RTC (real-time clock) and a choice of firmware, including Linux, DOS, and VT100 terminal emulation. The TRM/416 can operate from 12-24VDC, between -20 to 60 degrees C, with optional extended temperature LCD.
On the software side, the TRM/416 is available with a Linux operating system implmentation said to include an IP networking stack, webserver, and FTP and telnet clients, along with the MySQL database.

The TRM/416 appears to be available now. Pricing was not disclosed.
