MontaVista helps found, steer non-profit Eclipse corporation

MontaVista Software today announced that CEO Jim Ready will serve on the board of directors of the newly formed not-for-profit Eclipse corporation, of which MontaVista will be a founding "Strategic" member. Additionally, MontaVista is sponsoring and presenting a session at this week's "Eclipse.con" trade show in Anaheim, Calif.

MontaVista has been an active member and contributor of Eclipse.org since 2002. Eclipse is a prestigious open source community that recently became independent from founder IBM by incorporating as a not-for-profit organization. Organization membership is comprised of Strategic Developers, Strategic Consumers, Add-in Providers, and Open Source project leaders. Companies must base at least one product on Eclipse, and contribute $5,000, in order to qualify for membership.

MontaVista recently announced MontaVista DevRocket 1.0, an integrated and graphical development environment (IDE) based on Eclipse technology. DevRocket provides a common look-and-feel across development host platforms including Linux, Solaris, and Windows.

MontaVista will demonstrate the new DevRocket IDE at the company's booth at the EclipseCon show this week. MontaVista is a Silver sponsor of EclipseCon. MontaVista will also present a session entitled "Tux in Tool-land: Building an Eclipse-based development environment for Embedded Linux" on Thu. Feb. 5, at 2 pm, at the conference.
