| WiMAX conference announces program |

The program has been finalized for the largest WiMAX conference yet held in Europe, according to event organizer Trendsmedia. The "WiMAX World Europe Conference and Expo," set for May 22-24, in Vienna, Austria, will focus on operator and service provider experiences with early deployments.
Trendsmedia say that WiMAX standards have reached maturity, and that 150 service providers worldwide have started building WiMAX networks. Additionally, a second-generation WiMAX standard, 802.16e, will be used in products and trials by mid-year. The new 802.16e standard has "even greater potential" to accelerate broadband availability in underserved areas, Trendsmedia says.
The conference will feature 40 exhibitors, making it the largest WiMAX conference ever held in Europe, Trendsmedia says. Featured speakers include:- Wolfgang Weber, CTO of Swisscom Mobile

- Caroline Gabriel, research director with Rethink Research

- Dr. Mo Shakouri, board director of the WiMAX Forum
- Dr. Klaus-D. Kohrt, SVP at Siemens and vice chair of the UMTS Forum
- Roberto Ercole, spectrum projects manager at the GSM Association
Additionally, Trendsmedia says the event will feature speakers from 20 service providers, who will share their experiences with WiMAX. These include Alernet.com.ua, BT, Cityspace, Clearwire, Cornet Armenia, Energoinvest, BiH, Enertel, Enforta, Ertach, Euskatel, Faroese Telecom, Federal Ministry of Transport, ICT Turku Ltd, IPTEL/STELT, Macedonia Connects, Maxtel, MICRO-LINK, Ozone Paris, Sotcom, Swisscom Mobile, Synterra, Telabria, Telecom Italia, The Cloud, WiMAX Telecom AG, and others.
The WiMAX World Europe conference is hosted by Motorola, and endorsed by the WiMAX Forum, as well as by ETSI, Cetecom, TIA, the Wi-Fi Alliance, and BWA, Trendsmedia says. Additional details on the conference can be found here.
