| DSP board family gains Linux support |

Ithaca, NY -- (press release) -- Traquair Data Systems, Inc. and Strategic Partner Hunt Engineering (UK) Ltd. are now supporting Linux on computers hosting their high performance HERON and TIM-40 multiple processor DSP boards. Traquair Data Systems claims that this is the most aggressive Linux support introduced from the DSP community to date. It addresses the integration of advanced multiple processor DSP hardware technology with Linux hosted computer systems, and extends across major processor and board level products families as well as target platforms utilizing PCI, CompactPCI, ISA, and PC/104.
"The addition of Linux is an important step for many of our customers", said Stephen J. Bradshaw, President of Traquair. "Our commitment to Linux is in response to its increasingly significant role as a building block in high performance real-time computing systems." HERON DSP systems allow groups of extremely powerful TMS320C6000 DSPs and Virtex FPGAs to be combined and utilized together, with fully integrated data acquisition and I/O hardware, in stand-alone or computer-hosted environments. Legacy TIM-40 systems offer similar but lower end capabilities, with lower performance TMS320C4x series DSP processors. HERON and TIM-40 systems target many of the most demanding real-time applications in the world, including radar, sonar, industrial inspection, and communications.
Support software for Linux is provided free of charge, as part of a standard release of software known as the Hunt Engineering API, made available to all HERON and TIM-40 customers. With this, developers can establish Linux resident application code that can communicate with and utilize the multiple processor DSP hardware. This software is available now, and can downloaded by existing customers from the Traquair web site, at www.traquair.com.
With the Hunt Engineering API, interfacing from host computer resident applications to HERON and TIM-40 DSP hardware is source code compatible across all supported host operating systems. As a result, different builds of the same release of software could be used for different host operating systems. At a cost of $850, users can also purchase a Server/Loader utility that deploys executable software to multiple DSP processors and provides access from DSP resident code to a host DOS, Windows, VxWorks, or Linux Filesystem.
